MyGov ID and Relationship Authorisation Manager (RAM)

MyGov ID and Relationship Authorisation Manager (RAM)

To access a range of ATO’s online services on behalf of a business (operating under an ABN) you need to use:

  • MyGov ID – an app you download to your smart device which lets you prove who you are when logging into a range of government online services (it’s different to a MyGov account).
  • Relationship Authorisation Manager (RAM) – an authorisation service that allows you to act on behalf of a business online when linked with your myGovID (you’ll use your myGovID to log into RAM).
  • To get a visual presentation on how MyGov ID and RAM works, please watch the video on https://www.ato.gov.au/General/Online-services/Accessing-online-services-with-myGovID-and-RAM/

The following online services require you to have MyGov ID:

  • Business Portal
  • Online services for agents
  • Online services for Digital service providers
  • Access Manager
  • Australian Business Register (ABR)
  • ABR Explorer
  • Departing Australia superannuation payment (DASP) online application system.
  • Currently, you cannot use MyGov ID to access ATO online services for individuals, this is accessed through your MyGov account.

After you have set up a MyGov ID, you can Link your myGovID to a business using RAM:

  • Principal authority (including primary person) – person responsible for a business or entity
    • sole trader
    • trustee
    • director
    • partner
    • primary person (no individuals listed as an associate in the ABR) such as a director of a corporate trustee

Please note: If you have any trouble in linking your business using RAM such as you cannot find the ABN of your business or any other issues then please call 1300 287 539 directly. They will do an identity check and then should be able to link your ABN. We cannot contact on your behalf.
